The S Class Ace SL (low), SM (medium) and SH (high) incorporates the Benz Dynascan with Gyger S stylus coupled to improved generators using new coil windings and refined pole pieces/damper designs.
Handmade at the new Benz factory in Switzerland, the ACE means Advanced Cartridge Engineering. The ACE combines a cost-effective version of the Glider generator with an aluminum frame and acrylic body modeled after the Benz Ruby and Reference. Play the ACE, it's a winner.
Introducing the Benz Micro S Class! The S Class furthers the performance, selection and value of the Benz Micro line. The continued evolution of the Benz cartridge line and the culmination of years of research and manufacturing refinements, the S Class incorporates new materials, advancements in moving coil and suspension design, and upgraded styli on the Benz Swiss hand-made moving coils.
Albert Lukaschek began researching increased performance and uniformity of his crosscoil designs while developing the Benz Ebony H, L and TR models. Experimenting with the length of the solid Boron cantilever revealed how the elasticity of this very stiff material contributed to compliance and trackability. Development of a grooved rear pole piece for countersinking the o-ring damper, first introduced on the Benz Ruby square plate cartridges, was then adapted to the cross coil designs, given their lower contact area and damping characteristics. The lower mass coils and matched cantilevers of the new S Class retain their real world output levels and with their improved styli, offer higher performance.
All models of Benz Cartridges feature the new improved pole pieces featuring a machined insert for the damper O-ring resulting in greater mechanical linearity of the suspension. Benz cartridges also feature the Gyger S stylus precision bonded at the Benz factory to a 5.5mm solid boron cantilever.
Music lovers are getting the best performance/value ratio in phono cartridges, regardless of output level. Benz offers industry leading programs in upgrading previous Benz models to the new S Class.

"After about 40 hours of break-in, the ACE SL surprised me with a level of resolution and fine image size usually reserved for far more costly cartridges. Overall, the ACD SL's imaging and soundstaging were as good as, if not better than, any cartridge I've heard for under $1000." - Michael Fremer, Stereophile June 2009
"The ACE SL produced solid, well-defined, yet delicate images within a world-class-wide soundstage of reasonable depth. Its resolution of ambient cues and inner detail were astonishing for $700. Its tonal balance combined lower-midrange warmth, reasonably good bottom-end extension, good top-end extension and detail, and a slight reticence in the transition from the upper mids to the treble that produced a relaxed, very pleasing, yet detailed sonic picture. There were no standout colorations, hard edges, or grain." - Michael Fremer, Stereophile June 2009
"The Benz-Micro ACE SL is easy to recommend. While I found it did a good job with all types of music, it was especially good with acoustic jazz and classical. It had a rich harmonic palette and a relaxed but immediate overal personality." - Michael Fremer, Stereophile June 2009
"The ACE's mission is to make many of the virtues of high-end moving coils available to audiophiles on a budget, and at this it is a great success. You'll enjoy a sound that offers a wide-open midrange, plenty of definition and air around instruments and voices, and tight, clean bass. With the right phonostage, the ACE can do a great job of walking that fine line between resolution on the one hand, and smoothness and warmth on the other." The Absolute Sound Editor's Choice Award Winner, December 2005, Issue 157

|What can I say? I guess you heard it before but after a few hours of run-in, the band stepped of the platter and into my room. At this price level simply Too Much - I cried, yes, I bubled like a 2 year old.|
