40th Anniversary Reissue of Seminal Debut Album On Vinyl LP!
Lovingly Restored & Remastered From The Original 1/4" Tapes For First Time Since 1978 Release!

To mark the 40th anniversary of its original release, the English punk band Buzzcocks' seminal debut album, Another Music In A Different Kitchen, is reissued on vinyl LP.

Famously taking their name from "It's the buzz, cock" - a headline from a Time Out review of 1970s TV music drama "Rock Follies" - Buzzcocks formed in Bolton, England in 1976 by Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto. The "buzz" is the excitement of playing on stage; "cock" is Manchester slang meaning "mate" (as in friend/buddy). Singer/songwriter/guitarist Shelley and singer/songwriter Devoto have a strong claim to have kick-started a musical revolution in Manchester having organized and played at the now infamous Sex Pistols show at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall in 1976, a show which inspired and spawned the likes of Joy Division, The Fall and The Smiths.

Having recorded their debut EP, Spiral Scratch, in October 1976, the band soon underwent personnel changes with founder Howard Devoto leaving before they signed to United Artists and embarked on the recording of their debut album. Recorded at Olympic Studios in London between December 1977 and January 1978 with producer Martin Rushent and featuring the lineup of Pete Shelley (vocals/guitar), Steve Diggle (guitar/vocals), Steve Garvey (bass) and John Maher (drums), Another Music In A Different Kitchen was released in March 1978 featuring a distinctive cover by Malcolm Garrett whose work would become inextricably linked with the band.

By the end of 1978 with the release of their debut album and its follow-up Love Bites, not only had Buzzcocks established themselves as one of the leading-lights of punk but proved themselves as deft songwriters capable of producing three-minute-mini-masterpieces that would endure long after the initial spark of punk had faded.

"General judgment holds the Buzzcocks' peerless singles, the definition of punk-pop at its finest, as the best expression of their work. However, while the singles showcased one particular side of the band, albums like the group's long-playing debut Another Music showcased the foursome's other influences, sometimes brilliantly. The big secret is Shelley's worship of Krautrock's obsessive focus on repetition and rhythm, which transforms what would be 'simply' basic punk songs into at-times monstrous epics... As for the sheer rush of pop craziness, Another Music is simply crammed with stellar examples... Top all this off with any number of perfect moments -- the guitar work during the breaks on 'Love Battery,' the energizing yet nervous coda of 'Fiction Romance,' the soaring angst throughout 'I Don't Mind' -- and Another Music flat out succeeds." - AllMusic

"Everything about Buzzcock's 1978 debut is right." - BBC Music
