Cayin HA-1A Headphone Amp
The HA-1A may be the best thing that's ever happened to headphones...champagne sound for beer-budget bucks." Sam Tellig, Stereophile, June 2006
The Cayin HA-1A is a fully adjustable high quality audiophile tube Headphone Amplifier.
This is one seriously heavy-duty piece of gear. Weighing in at 15 pounds, the HA-1A is made from ultra-high-quality parts and looks stunning. The sound is so typically Cayin; natural and musically delicate without excessive warmth or detail. It's got an impedance selector switch that ranges from 6 to 300 ohms, so that it interfaces perfectly with any pair of headphones. And, with an efficient pair of bookshelf speakers, the HA-1A can actually serve as a very effective integrated amp. How's that for versatility?
"Pardon me, but that grasp you might have heard was me catching my breath and gathering my wits after unpacking the Cayin HA-1A headphone amplifier. Actually, make that 'vacuum tube integrated headphone amplifier.' A jewel box of a beauty, the Cayin is for the dedicated headphone aficionado - the pleasure-seeking hobbyist who prizes Mount Blanc pens, Panerai wristwatches, or cases of Antinori Solaia 1997." - Neil Gader, The Absolute Sound, January 2008

||Cayin H1-A1 is beyond great!
|First of all a shout out to the Elusive disc team for outstanding customer service, packaging and super fast delivery!! I received my item in perfect condition in 2 days. Amazing!
This headphone amp is everything the professional reviews say it is. Its built like a tank and uses high end components throughout. I have a HiFiman amp as well and all I can say is it pales in comparison to the Cayin H1-A1. The stock tubes are just okay. A little on the forward and bright side but listenable. The stock power tubes are Electro Harmonics EL84s and the 12ax7 and 12au7 are branded Cayin. I replaced the tubes with NOS GE EL84s, a NOS RCA Cleartop 12au7 and a NOS Telefunken 12ax7. With this tube roll this amp sings. Immediately the amp smoothed out. No more forward, bright characteristics. Now the amp excels in sound stage depth and width, beautiful liquidy mids, and smooth deep base but not at all sloppy and wonderful airy highs. And no fatigue on any music I ran through it. I own Grado cans and really thought they were good with the HIFIman but when plugged into this amp they are at a whole other level.
At this sale price or even the original price I dont think there is anything better out there today.|
