The V16 Project is a new band whose two-guitar front line and eclectic approach
(jazz improvisation, blues-rock-funk fusion, freeform jamming, Latin-Jazz feels,
sampled soundscapes, and more) should make it equally at home in jazz and indie
bins, at jazz festivals and at venues that attract young people to all kinds of
music. Featuring the superb interaction of slide guitar virtuoso David Tronzo
and spirited German ace Christian Kogel (from Jerry's previous two-guitar band
UFB), the program ranges from classical-music-influenced acoustic improvs to a
trancey bossa nova, from an extended, freeish, workout cover of the old standard
"Temptation" (worth the price of the album, for some) to down home originals by
bassist Cox.
Musicians: Jerry Granelli, electro-acoustic percussion; Anthony Cox, electric
bass, acoustic bass guitar; Christian Kogel, acoustic and electric guitars,
sampler; David Tronzo, acoustic and electric guitars, sampler.
