Groove Note releases the second Jacintha album (following the first audiophile
classic Here's To Ben) on the high quality analogue One Step format.
Autumn Leaves features an all Johnny Mercer program and was, like Here's To Ben,
also recorded on Direct to 2-Track analogue by Michael C Ross at Oceanway
Recordings in Hollywood. It features the same incredible line-up as on Here's To
Ben: Kei Akagi, Teddy Edwards, Darek Oles, Larance Marable and also adds Anthony
Wilson on guitar.
The song list included memorable demo quality tracks like Skylark, Autumn
Leaves, Moonriver (with a brilliant piano solo by Kei Akagi), and two beautiful
mixes of Here's To Life (bonus tracks from the movie Play It To The Bone).

||Wonderful recording & performance - Flawed pressing
|So very disappointed - for $80 I expected perfection. Yes, the one-step pressing @45 rpm is probably as close to the tape reel as you can get and it does sound phenomenal! Virtually no surface noise except for an occasional tick here and there, but the real issue here:
Both of my discs are bowled, i.e., one side is concave, the other, convex. As well, both discs are slightly warped. Oddly, the only track that the warping effects is the last track on Side D - you can hear the pitch of the sustained piano fluctuate.
For the life of me, Im dumbfounded in this age of technology and supposedly computer assisted record pressing machinery the quality of even supposedly audiophile editions end up like this limited edition. So sad, yet the cycle continues with no signs of improving. For what its worth, I have pressing #757. Also concerning, the www.groovenote.com website no longer seems to exist and I cant find a way to contact them. Good luck!|
