enjoys. Donald Runnicles succeeds Sir Charles Mackerras as principal conductor
of St. Luke's. As one of this generation's most distinguished conductors in both
operatic and symphonic repertoire, he is also Music Director of the San
Francisco Opera and Principal Guest Conductor of the Atlanta Symphony.
Mozart's Symphonies No.39 and No.41 "Jupiter" date from his extremely creative
summer of 1788. Both well-known and lyrically beautiful works highlight the
versatile talents of St. Luke's and offer an illuminating view into the last
period of Mozart's life.
