Exclusively Remastered 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Pressing!

A very controversial record at the time and scorned by critics at the time of its release, Miles Davis' 1972 album On The Corner is now seen as a forerunner of Post Punk, Hip Hop, Drum and Bass and Electronic music, thanks to its revolutionary recording techniques. It has been defined today as avant-garde with the use of overdubbing, looping and intense dance rhythms.

Miles wanted to reconnect with a younger audience, who had forsaken him for Rock and Funk, and the experimental On The Corner was his answer. Miles called into the studio a number of musicians using a variety of instruments: a guitarist, a bass player, multiple drummers and percussionists, as well as three keyboards and the “Indian room” sitar and tablas. Leaning more heavily on a drum and bass groundwork, the overdubs consisted of free improvisations held in the studio.

On The Corner isn't one of Miles easiest records to listen to, but it can yield the most fruits. Now released with completely remastered audio.

"...[A] remarkable mix of stylistic ideas that ran the gamut from 20th Century classical composition to tabla and sitar-driven Indo-centricity, all tied together by Davis' fascination with the unshakable groove music of Sly Stone and James Brown." - John Kelman, All About Jazz
