SHOSTAKOVICH, DEBUSSY & BROCKMAN
AIX Records are the first audiophile label to combine HD Video with their
award-winning HD Audio recordings on Blu-ray discs. According to company founder
and chief engineers, "We're unique among record labels because we shoot HD Video
of the actual recording sessions. Previously, we've had to down-convert the HD
Video to SD for the DVD-Video format. With the Blu-ray format, we can finally
deliver our HD Video AND the 7.1 HD Audio mixes."
A couple of 20th C. chamber music masterworks and a new piece by southern
Californian Jane Brockman are featured on this HD Audio disc. The Shostakovich
Piano Quintet is lush, melodic and has beautiful Fugue in the middle while the
Debussy is a flowing, sensuous blend of flute, viola and harp.
Delores Stevens is a very fine pianist based in Los Angeles and played on the
very first AIX Records release over 7 years ago. For this project she offered
the Chamber Music Palisades ensemble in performances of two of the 20th
Century's finest chamber music works and a new composition by Jane Brockman.
