Incredible Jazz Records + the original analog master tapes + cut at 45 RPM + mastered by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman at AcousTech + pressed on two 180-gram virgin vinyl LPs by RTI = THE ULTIMATE LP REISSUE!
The same formula that made the Fantasy 45 Series perhaps the most successful
audiophile reissue collection ever is now being reapplied to Blue Note reissues!
This is a perfectly solid record featuring tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine,
guitarist Grant Green, pianist Horace Parlan, bassist George Tucker and drummer
Al Harewood during a frequently exciting live set. Although recorded early in
the careers of Turrentine and Green, both lead voices are easily recognizable
with Green actually taking solo honors on several of the tracks. Standards and a
couple of blues make up the repertoire, giving listeners a definitive look at
the soulful Mr. T. near the beginning of his productive musical career.
Volume 1 of Up At Minton's contains recordings from sets 2 & 3 from the February 23, 1961 date at Minton's Playhouse in New York City.
