Kevin Jones' solo CD is called :"Hester St." It is a collection of 12 original songs from his new band including a few solo numbers. Kevin has written all the songs with lyrics on 5 songs from Jane Jones.
What's up with the name? There is a wonderful painting by artist George Luks called Hester Street now on display at the Brooklyn Museum. It is a busy New York street scene in 1905 with a lot of things going on. Business men making deals, moms wrestling with kids as they play, push carts selling flowers, crowds of people walking off to somewhere. In the distance there is laundry hanging on wires stretched between tall buildings drying in the breeze. Some of the shades are drawn, some are open. For all these people on Hester Street life is hectic, calm, busy, content, happy, and sad all at the same time. Everyone has their own story - a real mixed bag. The songs on this album speak to just that. A slice of life that could be anywhere... Hester St.
