180g Audiophile Vinyl Mastered by Friday Music's Joe Reagoso & Kevin Gray From Original Bearsville Records Tapes!
Features The 1983 Novelty Hit "Bang The Drum All Day"!

As founding member of the late sixties Philly rockers Nazz, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter and producer Todd Rundgren was barely in his 20’s when he began his long solo journey with success as one of the music industry’s most prolific and celebrated rock artists.

For his 12th solo album The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect, Todd Rundgren delivers nine solid performances which made this one of his most revered efforts in the '80s. As with many of his solo albums, Todd played all of the instruments, sang and produced this fan favorite and nailed one of the finest albums of his career and also catapulted Todd Rundgren's marquee as a singer/songwriter even further with his smash hit single Bang the Drum All Day.

Album opener and chart single Hideaway immediately brings the listener onto a magical journey as only Todd Rundgren can deliver. Filled with exceptional guitar work, solid lyrical imagery and the stellar vocals, the artist truly pours it all out on this tune. Followed quickly by the uptempo keyboard techno grooves of Influenza and the R&B infused There Goes Your Baybay, The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect album became a go to album for many rock radio programmers during
its chart run in 1982-83.

Known to write a few smash ballads more than a few times in his career, Todd nails one of his finest tunes ever with his brilliant Don’t Hurt Yourself. Soon to be followed with more hard rockers like his Beatlesque Drive, the alternative rocker Chant and a tip of the hat to The Small Faces with his masterful rendition of Tin Soldier.

This amazing album hasn’t been on vinyl for several decades that is until now...Friday Music is honored to announce for the first time ever on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl, the classic Todd Rundgren masterwork The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect. As a continuing installment in the career spanning Todd Rundgren Friday Music 180 Gram Audiophile Series, this limited edition album will also be presented for a short time in a first time gatefold cover which will feature the original inner sleeve artwork and lyrics, not seen in decades.
