Super High Definition format: Digital eXtreme Definition 24-bit 352.8kHz CD! Playable on all CD players!

For those who relish the acoustic sound of the Steinway concert grand piano, this album is ideal. Solo piano recordings, especially those in the classical genre, are usually recorded at large performance halls, which have ideal acoustic and the recordings are made by placing the microphones in front of the stage to capture the total effect of the sound in such a large hall. However, on this album, the Steinway concert grand piano is regarded and analyzed as a mechanical sound source for direct-cut disk. In other words, the artificial echoes and magnified effects produced by the physical space of large music halls is rejected here in favor of the simple acoustic sound effects of the concert grand piano. At Steinway (Take 2) presents the vivid sound of the Steinway concert grand in a manner that the listener feels the excitement of the immediacy of the direct-cut method just as if you were standing in front of - or rather, right within - the resonance box of the instrument.

A very exclusive piano sound, one of the best recordings of the piano in the world! Sit back and enjoy the acoustic sound of the Steinway concert grand piano to its fullest extent!

"This is probably the most specifically audiophile-oriented commercial CD release in history!..." - John Sunier, Editor, Audiophile Audition, USA, www.audaud.com

"When I listened to track 1, I said 'Oh! My God!' When I listened to track 2 (recorded using FIM cartridge), I sat speechless. And the world seemed to be standing still! I have never listened to such thing in all my life. All positive descriptions - no matter how 'superlatives' they sound, are an understatement." - Savio Lau, Editor, Hi Fi Review, Hong Kong

DXD Digital eXtreme Definition:
Digital eXtreme Definition (DXD) is an audio encoding scheme that was developed for editing high-resolution recordings because DSD, the audio standard used on Super Audio CD is not ideally suited for editing. DXD is a PCM-like signal with 24-bit resolution sampled at 352.8 kHz - eight times 44.1 kHz, the sampling frequency of Red Book CD. The data rate is 11.2896 Mbit/s - four times that of DSD!

FIM/LIM DXD CDs have taken this a step further to bring you closer to the source. Instead of making two or more sample rate conversions as with SACD, FIM/LIM recorded the source in DXD! The data rate for a DXD mono signal is 8467.2MHz, or more than 3X the data rate of a typical SACD! Experience the closest you can get to the original performance in the comfort of your home!

This album has the following unique features:
• It is the first commercially available album recoded from a Direct Cut LP
• Two Cartridges were used to record the same music so the listener can compare the different tonalities of a Van Den Hul Colibri XC-HO (odd-numbered tracks) and an FIM Black Ebony (even-numbered tracks) Cartridge.
• This album is the debut for a super HD format: Digital eXtreme Definition in the native Pyramix format, 24-bit 352.8kHz!
• Mastered in Winston Ma's (FIM/LIM President and life-long audiophile) Music Room in the final stage, not in the studio. The strategy is that the reference of the sound should be tuned to a listener's environment, rather than a studio, for more realistic tonality.

Features:
• Digital eXtreme Definition Compact Disc (DXD CD)
• 32-bit 352.8 kHz resolution
• Recoded from a Direct Cut LP
• Two Cartridges were used to record the same music, Van Den Hul Colbri XC-HO and FIM Black Ebony
• Playable on ANY CD player
