Not to cite the legendary Marvin Gaye as one of vocal mentors would be a severe sight on the part of any of today's rising R&B male population. And while imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, any artist who has attempted to do a cover of any one of Gaye's prolific songs knows that their version had damn well better be good.
With a career spanning over more than a decade, it's no wonder that many of today's artists continue to honor and emulate Gaye. Although no longer a physical presence, his existence as an artist is one that is sure to be a vital part of the millennium and beyond.
