Over a period of 15 years of inspiring recordings and an unabashedly honest
point of view, the Indigo Girls have created an instantly recognizable sound and
earned a singular place in American music. Not many people are aware of their
career longevity and all that they have accomplished over the years through
touring and directly reaching out to their fans. What they have very quietly
done, without the benefit of a hit single or video, is sell over seven million
albums; receive six Grammy nominations and one Grammy; play live or record with
an eclectic group of musicians including Neil Young, The Grateful Dead, Siouxsie
& the Banshees, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne, REM, Mary-Chapin Carpenter and
Lisa Germano; and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for many charities
including Honor The Earth, a organization Amy and Emily created and to which
they donate monies from many of their tours.
All That We Let In, is the Indigo Girls’latest studio release for Epic Records.
The album was coproduced by Peter Collins (Jewel, Indigo Girls—Rites of Passage,
Swamp Ophelia, Become You), mixed by Bob Clearmountain and mastered by Bob
Ludwig. Of the eleven songs on All That We Let In, six were written by Emily,
five by Amy. On the first single, “Perfect World,” Amy balances concern as a
global citizen with having fun in her personal life. Says Amy, “It’s about
having a good time, and not paying attention to what’s going on in the world.
And then realizing that you can’t do that. You have a responsibility to be
accountable.”
The packaging features incredible illustrations by Jaime Hernandez, one of the
artists that write and illustrate “Love and Rockets.”
