CD & DVD of Live Performances by Grammy-Winning Artist!
Extraordinarily Talented, Completely Original, Truly Engaging!

Amy Winehouse, an English singer and songwriter, is known for her deep contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres including R&B, soul and jazz. Winehouse's 2003 debut album, Frank, was critically successful in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Her 2006 follow-up album, Back to Black, led to six Grammy Award nominations and five wins, tying the then record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night. This made Winehouse the first British female to win five Grammys, including three of the "Big Four": Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. In 2007 she won a Brit Award for Best British Female Artist; she had also been nominated for Best British Album. Winehouse was listed at number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Women In Music.

Winehouse's greatest love was 1960s girl groups. Her stylist, Alex Foden, borrowed her "instantly recognisable" beehive hairdo (a weave) and her Cleopatra makeup from The Ronettes. Though her highly successful debut album, Frank, was jazz-influenced, Winehouse's focus shifted to the girl groups of the 1950's and 1960's for her second album, "Back to Black". This album spawned a number of singles including "Rehab", "Back To Black" and "Love Is A Losing Game".

British singer Adele has credited Winehouse's success in the United States for making her and fellow British singer Duffy's journey to the United States "a bit smoother". American singer Lady Gaga credited Winehouse with paving the way for her rise to the top of the charts. She explained that Winehouse made it easier for unconventional women to have mainstream pop success. Other artists that have credited Winehouse as a major influence as well for paving the way for them include Emeli Sandé, Misha B, Jessie J, Paloma Faith and Florence Welch.

“Amy Winehouse At The BBC”, a two-disc collection capturing the remarkable performances by arguably the greatest and most genuine talent to emerge in British music in decades, garners the strong and enduring relationship that Amy enjoyed with the BBC. It stands as further proof of quite what an extraordinarily talented, completely original, and truly engaging performer Amy was.

The CD features live performances of such favorites as "Rehab", "You Know I'm No Good", "Love Is A Losing Game", "In My Bed", "Valerie" and more. “Amy Winehouse – The Day She Came to Dingle” DVD is a short film featuring a fascinating interview with the artist intercut with Amy, at the height of her powers, delivering an electrifying 20 minute live performance recorded in December 2006 in a tiny church. Like Amy’s three previous albums, this new collection will prove, once more, a fitting tribute to her peerless artistry, phenomenal talent, and extraordinary powers as a songwriter, a singer and an interpreter of classics.

“I remember the first time hearing her voice…I instantly knew she was destined to be one of the greatest.” - NAS

“Jools loved Amy straight away – her honesty as a vocalist, songwriter and Londoner…Britain has produced a lot of brilliant female singer-songwriters and vocalists in the last decade or so, many from Beth Gibbons to Adele, rooted in older black American forms, soul and jazz and blues. But there was only ever one Amy Winehouse. She was frank and fresh and haunted.” - Mark Cooper BBC

"...[F]ans and critics alike embraced her rugged charm, brash sense of humor, and distinctively soulful and jazzy vocals. Her platinum-selling breakthrough album, Frank (2003), elicited comparisons ranging from Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan to Macy Gray and Lauryn Hill. Interestingly enough, despite her strong accent and vernacular, one can often hear aspects of each of those singers' vocal repertoire in Winehouse's own voice. Nonetheless, her allure had always been her songwriting -- almost always deeply personal but best known for its profanity and brutal candor." - Cyril Cordor
