Limited Edition 180g Transparent Red Vinyl LP!

This album was recorded live in Copenhagen on September 8, 1961. Multi-instrumentalist/composer Eric Dolphy, who left a distinct and original imprint on jazz, here plays solo bass clarinet on "God Bless the Child". It is generally considered his best recorded version of the composition. "Oleo" is more in the hard bop vein and Dolphy's bass clarinet really cooks! Hi-Fly is a 13-minute duet with Dolphy on flute and Chuck Israels on bass. Joined by a supportive Danish rhythm section (pianist Bent Axen, bassist Erik Moseholm and drummer Jorn Elniff), Dolphy is in excellent form throughout.

Note: The original Debut 136 issue listed the last take of "In The Blues" as "I Don't Know Why".
